TMG Aims and Vision for this Website

When I started this website, my main priorities were to create a platform for prototype and model railways conversation from a standpoint of collecting a bank of memories for the post war generation of "Baby Boomers". We watched the splendour of the Nationalised British Raiways through the transition from Steam Power through Diesel and onto the spreading Electrification of the Network. We saw first hand the Beeching Plan cancelling much of the rural network!

I have been inspired by books such as Cheese Butties and the 12.39 to Wigan by Andrew Mellor and Reading Between The Lines by Vic Millington. These books are full of real stories of a trainspotter and a working railway guard showing "How it was!"

I have set up the site with a "Readers' Contributions" section, so that you can see your memories online, sharing with your contemporaries under the following headings!

I often reflect to the heydays of my trainspotting days when I attended Prescot Grammar School. We went off as a group of young and questionning enthusiasts on trips, shed-bashing and station hopping. In those days, it seemed to be the weird boys who did not engage in trainspotting!

If you would like to share your memories with your contemporaries, I am at your service. I have set up the "Readers' Stuff" section of TMG.
